Martin Luther & The Reformation Lenten Studies

Join us for our
Lenten Studies
on Martin Luther & the Reformation

Sunday evenings in Lent (March 5 - April 2*)

Meal: 5:00pm*
Study: 6:00pm

*No Meal on April 2, due to a Cook-Off Fundraiser after church that day for our Summer Feeding ministry

There will be studies for children and adults to learn about Martin Luther's life and teachings, the Reformation and general time period, other reformers, and the theology at the core.

2017 marks the 500th Anniversary of the Reformation

Join us to go a little more in-depth - we might even do some Lutheran Myth-busting!

Shrove Tuesday and Ash Wednesday

Join us for...
Shrove Tuesday Pancake Supper
Tuesday, February 28
5:30pm-7:30pm
as we enjoy sugar and fat before the fasting of Lent begins!

If you didn't know...Bethany has a unique pancake tradition.  In addition to traditional pancakes, as pictured above, Bethany also serves (savory) buckwheat pancakes with sausage gravy - a tradition from the time when the Winebarger family used to bring fresh-milled buckwheat flour from their mill.

Then join us again for the beginning of Lent for

...Ash Wednesday Holy Communion with Imposition of Ashes Service
Wednesday, Feb. 10 at 7pm
This service sets the tone for the season of Lent, as we receive the ashes from Palm Sunday's palm branches in the form of a cross on our foreheads, reminding us of our mortality, our fickleness, and our need for the Savior.

For more about the ashes, see this blog post.

The shape of our faith

"Train children in the right way,
and when old, they will not stray."
- Proverbs 22:6

Check out our newly completed
"Faith Shapes Books"
- to be enjoyed by our youngest members as they grow.  We give children geometric shape books to help them learn their names.  These Faith Shape books will help them learn the names of the things they see every Sunday when they come with their families to worship.

New this year to our worship space is the
Pray Ground
- a place for parents to help soothe babies without having to leave worship each time they get a little fussy.

And for toddlers-early Elementary age kids, we have
Busy Bags
with items relating to the faith and to the day's lectionary readings to give them something faith-related to do when they get wiggly - allowing them to stay in worship with their parents.

A special thanks to Barbara for the Faith Shapes Books and creating and maintaining the Busy Bags!
