We'll have a soup lunch, then divide up to accomplish different tasks:

....decorate the Chrismon tree

...pack food boxes for families in need in our community.  This food will last families through the Christmas break from school.

...Go shopping for the kids we "adopt" through the school Angel Tree program...and have LOTS of fun with our annual Walmart photo challenge!

...come back, eat Christmas cookies (bring some to share), label gifts, view pictures from the shopping photo challenge, and fellowship!

It's Advent!

What is Advent?

"Advent" means "Coming"

It's the time we celebrate Christ coming in "History, Mystery, and Majesty"

We celebrate Christ coming to us in history as a baby, the Word of God taking on human flesh.

We celebrate the ways in which Christ comes to us NOW in mystery.

We long for the day Christ comes to us again in majesty.

We light a new candle on the Advent wreath each week.  And that light is our tiny little protest of hope against the darkness.  That light is a witness that the busy hustle does not run our lives.  It is a sign of our vigil.  It is a sign of our waiting.  O Come, O Come, Emmanuel!

All donations go to ministries of Outreach in our community: the Summer Feeding program with Green Valley School, presents for children in need at Christmas, helping local food-insecure families with Thanksgiving meals and food during the Christmas school break, meals for the homeless, and many more! *Help feed others while you feed yourself and your family!*
